From his end he disabled the firewall to try and that made no difference.
I'll get him to try a small icon size file.
The thing that has me stumped is that when he has his ie browser open and
logged into webmail, then the WS_FTP starts working. I can only assume his
ISP has some sort of block that is opened on his IP with the browser, once
open things operate normally.

Doing a site search on his ISP. They discuss ACE FTP for connection to their
webhosting, I'll get him to try that software as well.

Best Regards,
Howie.

Hi Howie,

Usually, when a file remains empty while transfering through FTP, this means
that the data connection did not work.
I may be due to a full disk (which doesn't seem to be your case), or a
firewall/routing issue.

The fact that the text/html file worked doesn't necessarily mean that
text/ascii works when binary don't. It may only mean that the text file went
through the control connection, because of it's small size. The image,
larger, needs the data connection to be sent.

Keep in mind that works using two types of connections : control from client
port (>1024) to port 21 on the server, used to send commands to the server,
and the data connection, from port >1024 to port >1024 on the server-side,
used to send datas when their size exceed the max value that the control
connection can handle.

Hopping it'll help you :)

Best regards,

Benjamin.

Hi all,

I have a bit of a strange one.
A user is using WS_FTP to upload files, on a new account. He can upload text
based files htm/html etc but not pictures. when he tries it creates the file
name with a size of zero.
He has WSFTP set to automatic mode for ASCII/Binary. He has also tried with
passive mode on and off.

Using the webdisk in openweb mail he can upload. But trying this open up a
strange happening.
With openweb mail open in his browser, if he then uses WSFTP, it works !

I've not see this before, I don't know if his ISP (freedom2surf.net , UK) is
doing something strange or indeed what to suggest next.
Any suggestions?

Best Regards,
Howie.
