Yes, the internet is a dangerous place!

It's really them probing the machine more than a hack, however if the probe 
comes back positive it will closely be followed by a hack :-p

It's no different to a burglar testing all the doors and windows of the houses 
on a street except on the net they can test for A LOT of vulnerabilities on a 
lot of ports on a lot on machines very quickly! :-/
