I found the cause of the problem listed below. There was a memory leak
bug in the code that is part of the current BlueQuartz distribution. On
the official mod_cband website,
(http://cband.linux.pl/download/mod-cband-0.9.7.3-changelog.txt) they
write:
19-04-2006 Arvind Srinivasan <arvind (at mark) madtux.org>
* fixed memory leak
* tests with high speed bandwidth and files over 3GB
I upgraded to the latest version (0.9.7.5) and it's been working fine
ever since.
Can the appropriate people who look after BQ builds please upgrade this
module in the next release...
