The Qube 2 is doing fine with NetBSD, but there's a glitch in the PCI support, transfer rates are not optimal- and I do enough transfers of big files within the LAN that I'm noticing the lag. So time for an update.
I like the form factor of the Qube 3, and would like to set up the httpd etc etc. and play with the GUI- I've not used one before :). I'm just not comfortable opening all those ports using the old Cobalt install, that's what RedHAt 5.*? Plus adding things to that will not be easy, from what I read. And I will want to add things. Seems like the best way to try the GUI but have a easy(ish) way to add and update things from the command line is to do BQ or variant.
And frankly I like seeing new patches and updates come out. I don't feel as orphaned.

I saw one FAQ on the Strongbolt site that said 120 worked, likely a 137gig max due to BIOS, and avoid 7200.9's. That's about all the detail I've seen.

Wow, speaker wire in the processor slot as a jumper. how similar are the RAQ3 and the Qube anyway? I wasn't sure from that post if I'd have to pull resistors off the Qube MB or not. I will be seeing a nice jump in performance from the Qube 2, anyway... but another 20% would always be nice.
Thanks for the reply---
