Last I used Amanda (years ago) I didn't like it. It forced you to use
tapes, and you could not use a single tape for more than one 'run' of jobs.
Initially this was fine for me, as I had a tape changer and it got the
job done. I ran into an issue where Amanda would not span a single disk
volume across multiple tapes, so I moved to Bacula. I have used many
(both free and commercial) backup applications. I prefer Bacula to all
of them.
