Yes, it works fine on BQ. I'm using IPTables "recent" module as part of my 
Security Package for BQ. There it by default guard SSH and FTP. Extending it 
for POP3/IMAP and other services is rather trivial, but as I haven't seen 
attacks against POP3 or IMAP so far I didn't want to include it for these 
services yet.
