Dennis,

I see that when DNS lookups are slow or you are being attacked on the SMTP port.

Sendmail does a DNS PTR record lookup for all connections on port 25 (SMTP).

On a related question, what's the best way to identify an attack on SMTP?

anyone same experience,

full patched BQ server, when sending mail with thunderbird it takes on 
local network up to 10 seconds until the mail is send to the server and 
accepted. Anyone same experience ?
