It doesn't on my older 2.5+ and older 4.x ISO installs - if you don't input the 
username in the aliases field it doesn't accept for them. All of them default to 
actually placing the username in the box during creation of a new user, only sensible 
as a default as I suspect that's what most users will want.

It just strikes me as unintentional behaviour, otherwise adding it and removing it 
would not cause it to go away.

Anyways, bug or not, surely it would be better for this not to happen, if you want the 
alias as username, it goes in the box, if not it doesn't.
