As others have said you can use different usernames and then make each an
alias for patrick.

In fact I now REQUIRE this for all accounts.  Why? Security.  If a username
matches the email address, everyone in the outside already has half the info
they need to get into someone else's mailbox and into your server. So I now
require new accounts to all use a company prefix for usernames.  If a
company is executive metal plating it would be:

emp.user1
emp.user2
emp.user3

And so on.  With an alias for what they want the email address to be.  I
explain why in the welcome email I send new clients and I have never had
anyone complain.  Most actually see how good an idea it is.
