 Hi Blues,

Anyone else getting this problem with mail queues
I spent a while last week clearing out the mqueue on
our main mail server and
made a couple of observations:

1 - There are a number of obvious spam email addresses / domains
that hit
our client addresses a lot. For example,
"richard (at mark) guitarra.biz". Is there a way of blocking email from these
addresses (or even in some cases blocking whole domains)? By this
I mean a
better method than putting them in a server wide spam blacklist.

2 - We get a lot of messages stuck in the mqueue (and as I now
realise get
sent a lot of "Postmaster Notify: see transcript for details" emails) as
a
result of us attempting to forward spam to people with half decent
ISPs.
These emails fall into two camps, the first one being covered by the
above
point (the ISP refuses to accept email from that address / domain).
The
second (more common) cause of these stuck messages is where
the user doesn't
exist on the domain that the email is claiming to have come from. My
question is if other people are able to carry out this check, why
aren't we?
If we could manage this it will cut out the amount of spam we all
receive
(by quite a factor I imagine), also, it would prevent these emails from
getting stuck in the mqueue for ages and save the need for
hundreds of
"Postmaster Notification" emails from being sent left right and centre.

Any suggestions ?

Rgds.
