As long as both master and slave DNS servers are registred for the
domain.
You should be OK, as DNS will check each and use the one that answers.
The correct server will eventually be cached on the internet.
If you do not plan to restore the master (primary) server,
then you may need to take other action.
i.e. you need to change the DNS servers that are registered for the
domain(s).
Not sure I fully understand your problem, so doing a SWAG.
