Taco
After the DNS change I rebooted the machine and now the DNS server reports a
server error for this domain.
DNS Server Response 2: Server Failure.

Felix,
What you see is a typical BQ/Cobalt feature.
All users are setup in the virtual host domain, which often is
www.domainname.com
so user peter (at mark) domainname.com is actually forwarded to
peter (at mark) www.domainname.com
sendmail has issues with cnames so please add an mx record for
www.frieedenspalais.ch pointing to mail.friedensplais.ch
With regards,
Taco
