Hi Paul,

Its POP3, not IMAP.

I cannot see any -R switch, I do not know how/where to put that in.
Makes sense though if I knew how to do.

Any idea where dovecot fits into all this, because I thought that what
was running ?

I did a ps -ax, and didnt have any in.qpopper listed at all. Just these

14660 ? S 0:00 pop3-login
14741 ? S 0:00 pop3-login

Any help much appreciated.

Rgds.

Is this POP collection or IMAP?

Sendmail does not control the mailbox authentication.- qpopper does.

The permitted connections paramter are located in /etc/xinetd.d/pop3. It is
also worth checking to see if an -R switch is in the server ARGS within this
file (to disable the reverse DNS lookup)

We get this authentication lockup from time to time.

We do:

/etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd stop
/etc/rc.d/init.d/dbrecover start ( this may take a while)
/etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd start

If you run ps -ax and find you have a mass of in.qpopper processes listed,
then you may want to:

killall in.qpopper - as they may be stuck processes.

Regards

Paul
