Well,

MailScanner cannot start due to a problem.

First thing to do is 'killall' MailScanner/sendmail. Then set 'Debug = Yes'
in MailScanner.conf (usually in /etc/MailScanner/), start MailScanner and
check logs for error messages.

But, if you're running the latest stable MailScanner (4.54.6-1) and
recently updated the PERL module SYS::Syslog to v0.16, then you need to
revert back to SYS::Syslog-0.15 as that solved the problem in my BlueQuartz
server.

Remember to change back Debug = No in MailScanner.conf - it's easy to
forget :)
