Try the 2.61 version from (one line below)
http://bluequartz.org/pub/BlueQuartz/5100R/
CentOS4/testing/i386/RPMS/5100R-cmu-2.61-0BQ13.centos4.noarch.rpm


Then
rpm -U 5100R-cmu-2.61-0BQ13.centos4.noarch.rpm

And make sure the   /etc/locks   exists.

No ... that didn't work either ... my gut feeling is that I need an
older version rather than a newer one. Closer to 2.53
