Is the machine behind any kind of a firewall, and if so, are both
ports 20 and 21 open?

Googling for that error message seems to indicate the problem only
exists for Macs, and that it could be a firewall issue or a DNS
resolver issue.

I don't use a Mac or have access to one, so I can't help anymore I
don't think...
