A patch isn't always a fix .. remember that :)  The problem is being 
looked into.  In the mean time, to stop complaints, etc, this PATCH will 
do that.  The real problem is unknown at this time.  A solution will be 
available when it is found.

If anyone would like to help come up with a better solution, I am sure 
everyone would appreciate it!
