What I have seen as far as "Data format error" has been resolved by using
a "-ba" in the sendmail call.

On my CD Install Script, I fix the vacation problem like so;

/usr/bin/perl -pi -e "s/-oi -t/-oi -t -ba/" /usr/local/sbin/vacation.pl

It adds -ba which allows the vacation.pl to work with out any problems!

I mean, you don't need to, it is just a feature that a lot of people
really like. I know for one, I like it. I would rather swap out the
index.html with a blank one then have some little wanna be hacker be
presented with a username/password prompt right away. That makes it too
easy for them.

I run but 1 single box. Maybe a hosting provider can chime in on this one?

I have 1 customer who really loves the feature. He names his boxes "nsX",
and then just accessess them that way. He then just puts in a URL
redirect using meta tag to send them to his site instead.

As it has always been in the Cobalt World, what you name your box is what
the virtual site gets added as. There is an old expression in the US, it
is called KISS (keep it simple stupid). If an average user, who knows
nothing, uses this product, he may be inclined to give his box name
"www.domain.com", which using my CD would also create a vhost "www",
instead of a "mail" or "nsX" domain. It would be much simplier for him to
access the box then.

But as it stands right now, if he names his box "www", he will never be
able to create a virtual site "www". Granted he can make changes and
rename the box name, and then add the "www". But, it is more work for the
average end user.

I agree, that should be left up to the "typical" user of this product.
Hopefully some providers will chime in and let us know their thoughts and
views on this.

It would definately elminate one conflict, but I think setting up just
aliases would be better. This way no conflict arises. People still do
access the webpage via IP address.

Maybe just adding in the aliases would be the best bet. Have no virtual
host container.

Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Thanks!
