While the list of compatible motherboards may be long, I'm guessing the list
of boards that are based on the newer ICH10 chipset, will be short. If you
are trying to install on one of the ICH8/ICH9 boards, you will _NOT_ want to
install in SATA - AHCI mode. Start with the ATA mode first, and see if that
works. Depending on the system, it may show up as "ATA (RAID if detected)".
If you are trying to install on an ICH10 based board, you may need to
recompile the kernel unless you can provide a drivers floppy. I'm going
through this where I work, to support new systems from Dell, which are ICH10
based. You can also try "Legacy" mode, but that will be a big performance
degradation.
