There are certainly several ways how to deal with this. Which one to use 
depends on your setup and expected usage, so that is entirely up to you. 

Dnsstuff is certainy a nice way to test DNS, but I'd rate the "open DNS 
server" failure notice as somewhat controversial and misleading. After all, 
we all DO need to use at least one "open" DNS server internally to resolve 
all DNS records. Without that we couldn't receive or send emails.

But yeah, if you want to have a clean scope on Dnsstuff, don't use the 
recursive option in MyDNS.
