Dear Chris,

I send a test message only when there appears to have been no listserver traffic in a
single day. This way if the BQ listserver is down I can alert the appropriate person who
does not monitor the server because he has more important things to do with his time.

However, if you find that minuscule message offensive or costly, I will quit the
practice and allow the listserver to be down like it was for 5 days last month, and
several days before that.
