I remember when I had my first RaQ with Interliant and they decided to sell
their web hosting customer accounts to Interland, (even though my contract
said they couldn't do that). Somehow, they forgot to put a label on my
server and after the physical move deadline was supposed to be done my
server wasn't back online. They lost my server. Fortunately a friend had a
friend who worked in the DC who found my server still sitting in the rack
at Interliant despite Interland's claims that it had been moved and would
be back online soon.
So, this kind of outage, IMHO, is more acceptable.
