HI Darrel,

I would like to state respectfully,

I am no linux expert, But I think we should follow Hisao's Leadership,

He probably decided to use flat files because he knows what he's doing,

And I am confident that if it$BCT(B a mistake, he and the group will help us
amend it.

I think we should trust him,

As for now, its is imperative to fix the dictionary attacks killing our
servers.

I felt reluctant to use flat files too and waited for Hisao's solution,

But as one of the leaders of this community, I think he has taken the time
to test it and resolved that for now it$BCT(B the best option.

Remmeber you are not alone on this. We are all on the same ship ,

My 2 cents.

First, let me say thank you for all you do.

Second, let me ask a question: is converting BQ from PAM to flat files going
backwards? It doesn$BCU(B appear to be a step forward, but a step backward.
Shudder the word, but has anyone looked at Zeffie$BCT(B recommendation to see if
it had any value before moving backwards?

Hi JK,

This updates doesn't fix this issue, it has only workaround for it.

Now, I'm working to move to flat files instead of pwdb.
I finished to write convert script, and I'm writing some other script to
replace some BQ specified package for pwdb automatically.
This update will be included in base-users and base-bluequartz and they has
original some packages like as pam, pwdb and some configuration files for
pam.d.

I will send an announcement when my preparation will be finished.

Regards,
Hisao

Will this update resolve the PAM issue or do we still need to move to

Hi Hisao,
Is the dovecot update still in testing? Any idea when it will be moved to
update repo?

there was an update for dovecot.
Sometime ago Hiaso had a dovecot update in testing, I thought it had been
moved from testing to update repo"
