Hi Jeff, nicer name then a Zeffie.

This is just to point out what I have done.

Before me, obviously to install BQ took time and a bit effort. First
one had to install Linux by them selves. As you know, I know, and
probably about 60-70% of the people know, that is NOT a hard process.
But, for 30% or so (and that is being kind), they never have, nor do
they know what "rpm" does. So, right off the bat, that is the one of
the biggest things. On top of that, it has allowed 4 successful
business to continue where the Cobalt brand died. Sure someone else
may have thought about doing it, but I get the credit :-)

By making it an easy to use "distro", it has definitely helped in
making it known world wide, given people who never heard/used of a
Cobalt a chance to use another great OS/GUI system.

What have I contributed? Besides Hisao Shibuya, I venture to say I
have been the biggest contributor to the BQ project.

Auto DNS - Although I didn't write it, I extended it to allow more
then just the basic entries. I also gave it a way to add whatever
entries one may like, plus the ability to add an MX record.
Virtual Site DNS - That is 100% me. I decided it was best for Site
Admins to be able to modify DNS, if the Admin allowed it.
Front Page Extensions - Brought those Back in.
RAID Support - Modified the needed binaries, along with Hisao, also
modified all the GUI & Handler stuff to make it work with CentOS.
ASP Support - I brought that back (free addon). Just buy a license
from Chilisoft, and away you go.
Mono Support - Another addon module, free.
JSP Support - Not in the Core, but is available as a free addon
module.
Apache Authentication - Gave a way for users to be able to
authenticate siteadmins, users via Apache. mod_auth_external to be
exact. I wrote the authentication scripts, verify scripts, etc.
Remote Access - Available only via my CD. Mind Term SSH Client (Java
client)
A Basic MySQL Plugin for the GUI
Ability to disable email for a user / domain via the GUI
Fixed DNSImport script to work just that much better

Plus numerous bug fixes in the backend Perl/PHP scripts through out
the past years.
Possibly even more, but at this time my mind is drawing a blank

Every minute I have ever put forth to this project I did it for two
reasons. The biggest, sure to make money. If I didn't make
something, I wouldn't have continued. But more importantly because it
allowed a community to flourish. I can say that I have given more to
this project as far as time and effort then you could ever imagine.

Listen, and this goes out to all people. I am not looking to fight
with you. I do not know you, and I have never talked to you. If you
wish to actually contribute to the BQ project, join the developers
list. If you wish to provide free support to people, then do it here.

Please realize, this community existed with out getting our Zzzz from
Zeffie for many years. Also think, you are the only one to hide
behind a name. Come out of that shell Jeff, and play with the rest of
the kiddies in the park, just do not be that annoying kid in the back
of the class that everyone hates.

Please, do NOT respond to this, as this was more of an informational
email. And if you do, it will just start a flood of emails that 99%
of people won't read, and then they will get pissy. Then everyone
will have to read annoying rants.

Take care.

Brian Smith
