I think it's safe to say that most programmers laugh at people using flat
files for databases and the concept is very outdated... I would have to
suggest you take up the using a database vs. a flat file with the database
loving programmers... I'm sure they can give you lot's of reasons...
Myself I would just say that I love the old way and have never been a big
fan of the db.... but after doing multiple repairs to the flat files, i.e.:
the passwd and shadow files on older models I have to agree that the db is a
safer way of adjusting these very important files... it's an advanced
concept and just the right thing to do.
