Gerald,

Is it possible you removed the line (or lines) ...

 (at mark) example.com             %1 (at mark) www.example.com
 (at mark) mail.example.com        %1 (at mark) www.example.com

If so you could try replacing them or I once removed all email aliases in
the gui site settings, clicked save, and then re added the email aliases I
needed and clicked save and it fixed a problem like you describe.
