I'm not having an issue with mine. Ubuntu out of the box with all the
updates installed.

I use a Linux workstation (CentOS-4 + KDE 3.5.8) for all my work and have no

problems managing BlueQuartz with Firefox (v2.0.0.2) or Konqueror
(v3.5.8-8el4).

Even with much older versions I didn't have any problems in recent years.
Except maybe two to three years back Konqueror that I used on SuSE Linux
couldn't be used to login to the XTR GUI due to some Javascript issues, but
with RaQ550's it worked fine.

So I guess your problem is related to Ubuntu or the way it's set up.
