Assigning 2 IP addresses within one subnet to 2 interfaces does not
have any influence: all data will go through the same interface.

So you would need two subnets - defined by the netmask.
Also I beliveve you could use only 1 IP address on each port both 
with a netmask of 255.255.255.255

hi,
 
i have yust set a secondary IP on the second NIC but i'm unable to ping
the other ip where it's connected to.
 
it's al local lan wich will be connected trough a VPN router to a LOCAL
natwork toread out a local MSSQL server. Can some one help? the ip range
used is 192.168.111.x
 
i also set a static route to the remote lan trough the vpn router
192.168.111.1 is the router 192.168.140.0 is the remote network.
 
annyne have anny ideas?
