I have a server bought from RaqWare and it has SpamAssassin and
MailScanner installed, though I have not yet played with any configs on
them.

I have a user that is getting over a hundred spam messages and doesn't
want to see them. The messages have [SPAM] appended to the subject. I
was going through the archives looking for a solution for this user and
I found a response from Paul in 2006 that I thought I would try, but
wanted to make sure it was still ok and still a recommended procedure.
Here it is:

"

Edit /etc/procmailrc

Add..

# Delete messages with spam score 7 or higher
:0
* ^X-Spam-Level: \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*
/dev/null

Change the number of * to alter what you want....

"

I went ahead and did that that (I can undo if necessary), but have a
question. He said to change the number of * to alter what you want. This
I don't understand - would it be subtracting/adding a slash asteric ( \*
) to the end of the middle line, or adding an * to the front of that
line? I don't understand that syntax.

I think by doing this it will rid all of us of spam that is ranked 7 or
higher. I think I would rather do this on a per user basis, but if that
isn't possible/easy with what I have, then no biggie. Any advice
appreciated.

cheers, Jim
