Hi,

I didn't change the ip of the old machine to something else..I deleted the site...should I have changed the IP instead of deleting?

Regards,
Mitch

I missed that important point... sorry.

In this case it would be an immediate change, provided the IP addess of the old machine was changed to something else.

If you have both servers powered-up with the same IP address (this is generally not a good thing to do), then you will get a response from whichever answers first - usually this will be the one with the higher spec.
hardware.

If the old server has a different IP address than the new server, then I would recommend that you check your routing?

e.g.
traceroute <ip address old-server>

and then

traceroute <ip address new-server>

The end of the logs should be different.

Maybe this will prove more useful,
Everard

p.s. again, sorry for not reading your original query properly - it wastes bandwidth ;-)
