Thanks...Is this true even if I don窶冲 change the IP....just the machine it was on.
Deleted the site from one machine and cmu to another using the same IP...both machines still on...just transferred the site from one to another...didn't change my dns or anything.
But when I call the site it still tries to go to the old machine instead of the new one...almost as if the ip was burnt into the old machine and didn't come off when I deleted the site.

Hi Mitch,
It usually takes a few hours for the name to be associated with the new IP address at public DNS servers and ISPs.
Once you have updated your personal DNS records, the change has to be replicated to the root DNS servers and then, from there, it will be distributed worldwide.
In some rare cases, this can take up to 24 hours...
This delay is normal for address changes so the best solution is patience ;-)
