Thanks Gerald, What I want is work out why I'm getting the problem. I don't want myclients having to phone to ask me to delete stuff off their FTP site. Sounds like a problem escaping the special characters - maybe I need toadd some rewrite rules in proftpd? We are having a consistent problem with our BQ servers (allversions) where clients' FTP files with gaps in the name and then cannotdelete them or modify them afterward they have been uploaded to ourservers. I'mno *nix guru J	I haven't changed anything in the proftpd.conf from the originalBQ dist.
