I didn't quite understand, Ernie: does URL always change to 1st sitename
regardless of what vsite you typed in a browser?
If so, is this SSL connection?
Then it is because you probably have SSL enabled for the 1st site and
connection picks the 1st site's cert.

If you mean that this occurs on simple HTTP connection, then this is
probably a misconfiguration.
I'd check NS/httpd.conf/*hosts* configs.
